Abstract: Brain circuits respond to external inputs in a way that depends on their activity state.  This is true for elementary circuits, such as cortical slices that can be modulated across different activity states. This is also true in vivo, where the brain state can be modulated either by varying the depth of anesthesia, or during the wake-sleep cycle.  The goal of this workshop is to find common principles to understand how brain circuits respond according to their state of activity.  This will be examined from in vitro, mouse and rat preparations in vivo, non-human primate, and up to the human brain.  In each preparation, we will also consider models of brain circuits, at different scales from the cortical column up to whole-brain models.
